Abstract
La medicina tradicional sigue siendo la fuente de tratamiento más accesible en el sistema de atención primaria de salud de las comunidades de escasos recursos en la provincia de Zambézia, dado que únicamente el 40% de la población tiene acceso al sistema de salud pública. La población local presenta una larga tradición en el uso de plantas con fines medicinales. A pesar de la creciente aceptación y de la necesidad real en el uso de la medicina tradicional en el país, este rico conocimiento indígena está escasamente documentado. Objetivos: Recopilar información etnofarmacológica sobre las principales especies utilizadas en el tratamiento de diversas enfermedades en la región de Zambézia, ubicada en el centro de Mozambique. Participantes: 260sanadores, de edades entre 21 y 87 años, 51,5% hombres y 48,4% mujeres y procedentes de 13distritos. Los sanadores pertenecían a tres asociaciones de practicantes de medicina tradicional, Ametremo, Aermo y Ascum y el estudio se realizó de enero de 2021 a agosto de 2023...
Traditional medicine remains the most accessible source of treatment in the primary health care system of low-income communities in Zambézia province, given that only 40% of the population has access to the public health system. The local population has a long tradition of using plants for medicinal purposes. Despite the increasing acceptance and genuine need for traditional medicine in the country, this valuable indigenous knowledge remains poorly documented. Objectives: Compile ethnopharmacological information on the main species used in the treatment of various diseases in the Zambézia region, located in central Mozambique. Participants: 260 healers, aged between 21 and 87 years, 51. 5% men and 48. 4% women and from 13 districts.
