Abstract
This article tries to assess the reaction of Gabonese pupils in the secondary; it concerns their learning process of Spanish as a foreign language. Like all the learners of a foreign language, pupils in the secondary approach the learning of Spanish with certain preconceived ideas, the result of previous experiences as learners, added to the weight of their culture, and a belief in what is a foreign language and what is the process of its acquisition. The elements mentioned above considerably influence their way of learning, that is, their manner of learning, and the strategies adopted in the process. Hence the importance and need to introduce in the educational practice a systematic phase of analysis of pupils’ needs for a better identification of their perception in order to work it out with them. In this way, it would be possible to help pupils forego the less effective or erroneous ideas and replace them with more effective ones.
