Abstract
This paper explores the perception of the main actors in the politics of the Hispanic Monarchy as to what were the most effective remedies to combat the deviation of the behaviour of the king's officials, and also of the vassals, which corrupted the customs and therefore the moral references of society as a whole. Through the analysis of primary documentation from various repositories, the aim is to reflect on what was considered corruption for men and women in the 17th century, as well as the ways in which they believed they could tackle its origins or consequences, among which imitation and exemplarity stood out.
