Abstract
Este artículo trata de la descripción articulatoria y del sistema de notación para representar las “pronunciaciones figuradas” que aparecen en la Novísima gramática para aprender a leer, hablar y escribir rápida y correctamente el idioma inglés (1886) y en el Compendio de la Novísima gramática (1887) del reverendo protestante de origen español y afincado en Puerto Rico Zacarías Vall Espinosa. Se trata de una contribución a la historia de la enseñanza de la pronunciación inglesa.
This paper deals with the articulatory description and the notational system to represent the “figurative pronunciations” that appear in the Novísima gramática para aprender a leer, hablar y escribir rápida y correctamente el idioma inglés (1886) and in the Compendio de la Novísima gramática (1887) by the Protestant reverend of Spanish origin and settled in Puerto Rico Zacarías Vall Espinosa. It is a contribution to the history of teaching English pronunciation.
