Abstract
El artículo se centra en Beatriz y Blanca, esposa e hija del rey Alfonso III de Portugal, recipiendarias de cierta herencia castellana relacionada con Alfonso X y la familia de Guzmán. En su vida, ambas damas gestionarían importantes intereses a ambos lados de la frontera luso-castellana. En especial, el papel de Beatriz como mediadora llegaría a ser relevante para las relaciones entre Castilla y Portugal. El trabajo examina sus señoríos y patrimonio, amén de asuntos curiales, domésticos y de piedad, dentro del contexto de la evolución política y religiosa a ambos lados de la frontera, mediante un detenido análisis y reevaluación de las fuentes primarias y trabajos disponibles para el estudio del tema.
Description
This study focuses on Beatriz and Blanca, the wife and daughter of King Afonso
III of Portugal, beneficiaries of a certain Castilian inheritance related to Alfonso X
and the Guzmán family. During their lifetime, both women managed significant
interests on either side of the Castilian-Portuguese border. The role of Beatriz as
mediator will become especially relevant for Castilian-Portuguese relations. The
study examines their lordships and properties, as well as issues related to their
household, domestic and piety issues, within the context of the political and religious
evolution on both sides of the border, by carefully examining and re-evaluating
both primary sources and the available scholarly literature on this topic.
