La influencia de la figura de Julio César y del ejército romano en la política del Segundo Imperio Francés

Abstract

Se estudia en este trabajo la influencia que tuvo la figura de Julio César y del ejército romano en la política del Segundo Imperio Francés, durante el cual Napoleón III mostró un gran interés por la figura del dictador romano. Asimismo, se analiza el resultado de las excavaciones realizadas en Alesia entre 1861 y 1867, así como el uso posterior que se realizó por el gobierno francés de las ruinas y de la figura de Vercingetorix, para construir una identidad nacional francesa frente al nacionalismo alemán.

This paper explores the influence that had the figure of Julio Cesar with the Roman army in the politics of the second French Empire, during which Napoleón III showed a great interest in the figure of the Roman dictator. Also, the result of the excavations carried out at Alesia between 1861 and 1867, as well as the further use that was held by the French Govemment of the ruins and the figure of Vercingetorix, analysed to build a French national identity against German nationalism.
