Abstract
Objectives: The objectives of this research were (1) to evaluate the available scientific evidence on the antibacterial effect of electrical stimulation on titanium surfaces, (2) to develop an experimental model that allows the study of the electrochemical decontamination of implants and, (3) to define the optimal electrochemical treatment parameters to decontaminate the surface of titanium implants, contaminated with an in vitro multispecies biofilm, in the developed model, without adverse effects.
