Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyses the meaning of being a caregiver and being cared, from the perspective of care and the ethics of care on infants and toddlers, children from birth to two years and eleven months. In today's world, reflecting about care and the ethics of care is an urgent and necessary matter, since care and caregivers contexts need to create environments that are aware of the implications of social and human relationships. The caregiver, through his reflective capacity, must recognize and dismiss any judgment that may limit the capacity of the human formation of those who have been placed under their care. Therefore, it cannot go unnoticed that the caregiver ask themselves the following reflective questions: What do infants and toddlers need from me? How can the ethics of care may help me reflect about the entrusted task of caring? Theory expose a significant and relevant knowledge much needed by caregivers who are responsible for establishing a caring relationship with infants and toddlers who are working at day care centers or at home, no matter if they have accomplish an early childhood education diploma, or are working as caregivers, educators, or assuming any other working position within the early childhood environment. The goal of this study aims that caregivers answer the following questions: How the ethics of care becomes possible through the caregiver? How care and ethics of care is defined and represented from the perspective and the voice of the caregiver? The questions that guided the study are: What is the meaning of care? What is the meaning of ethical care? What is the caregiver role in the ethics of care? What characterize infant and toddlers? How infant and toddlers are defined in this research? How childhood is defined and what characteristics define them? What can we learn, from the historical perspective, about care, and the past and present needs and visions of caring for our children? What features or characteristics are sustained throughout history? Why is it important to care about others? How do the ethics of care develops in environments with infants and toddler? What factors are associated to care?...
