Abstract
La presente tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo analizar la importancia de las páginas web de universidades de Latinoamérica como medio relevante de la estrategia de la comunicación institucional para transmitir sus valores como entidad, posicionar su oferta educativa e impactar favorablemente a sus públicos objetivos. Hemos tratado de identificar, evaluar y comparar la estructura y contenidos de las páginas web de las universidades estudiadas, tanto las utilizadas como modelos de referencia (Harvard, Stanford y el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts) como las de Latinoamérica, que han sido el objeto central de nuestro estudio (la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, el Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey, la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, la Universidad de São Paulo USP y la Universidad de Guayaquil). Hemos empleado una metodología mixta compuesta por: 1) una la revisión de diversas fuentes bibliográficas; 2) la recolección de información a través de una amplia encuesta realizada sobre el público objetivo potencial usuario de estas universidades (estudiantes de la Facultad de Comunicación Social); 3) un formulario de evaluación aplicado a expertos en el área; y 4) un proceso de triangulación metodológica a través del que se llevó a cabo la comparación de las observaciones, los datos obtenidos y los resultados parciales alcanzados...
The objective of this doctoral thesis is to analyze the importance of the websites of Latin American universities as a relevant means of the institutional communication strategy to transmit its values as an entity, position its educational offering and favorably impact its target audiences. We have tried to identify, evaluate and compare the structure and content of the web pages of the universities studied, both those used as reference models (Harvard, Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and those of Latin America, which have been the central object. of our study (the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the Technological Institute of Monterrey, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the University of São Paulo USP and the University of Guayaquil). We have used a mixed methodology composed of: 1) a review of various bibliographic sources; 2) the collection of information through a broad survey carried out on the potential target audience of these universities (students of the Faculty of Social Communication); 3) an evaluation form applied to experts in the area; and 4) a process of methodological triangulation through which the comparison of the observations, the data obtained and the partial results achieved was carried out...
