Abstract
In this research I analyze the dynamics of political identity that operates in the construction of the movement for the recovery of memory (or, simply, the memorialist movement), carried out in Spain throughout the first decades of the 21st century and which claims, from a wide range of expectations, the redress of a set of historical experiences and subjects violated by Francoism: fundamentally associated with the destruction of republican democracy and the repression of the opposition to the dictatorship. My research hypothesis is that the origin and trajectory of this movement take on political meaning within a process of identity formation bounded by the meanings that the mobilized actors attribute to their experience of that past and to the relationship of that experience with the action of the movement as a whole. In this way, the changes in the meaning of the actors (identities in the movement) and of the collective agent that links them (identities of the movement) characterize the morphology and evolution of this process; which I suggest approaching from Castells’ framework on the identity sources: resistance, project and legitimization; which organize my study of the relational dynamics of the memorialist political identity...
