Abstract
This presentation addresses the issue of how the design of software architectures affects the type and quality of the social interactions that take place in digital environments. We depart from the results of three research projects concerned with the design of digital environments: 1) The Triple Impact of Collaborative Consumption (Gordo & de Rivera, 2015), a project funded by four European consumer organization in which we analysed 55 platfoms of the collaborative economy. 2) The Sociology of Digital Institutions, the case of the Collaborative Economy (de Rivera, 2019), a thesis research that expanded the previous analysis applying an institutional framework. From each of these research projects we extract conclusions on how digital environments create social conditions for the socialization of users in diferent kind of cultures and behaviours.
