La dirección de actores es una parte fundamental de la escenificación. Es competencia exclusiva del director de escena y quizá, junto al plan de dirección, la que más constituye y define su trabajo y su figura. Sin embargo, es difícil concretar su presencia una vez que está disuelta en la actuación. La dirección de actores ha existido siempre, desde el propio nacimiento del teatro, aunque el desarrollo de su trabajo y su figura ha experimentado diferentes avances, siempre ligado al desarrollo del director escénico, del que forma parte, y al desarrollo de la interpretación, con la que se relaciona íntimamente. Lo cierto es que el teatro, desde su nacimiento, nunca ha sido solo palabra y actor. Sin embargo, históricamente, la indefinición de la figura del director de actores y su endeudamiento con la técnica actoral han limitado su desarrollo específico y le ha constituido como un desconocido social...
The direction of actors is a fundamental part of the staging. It is the exclusive competence of the stage director and probably, together with the direction plan, the one that most constitutes and defines their work and their figure. However, it is difficult to specify their presence once it has been dissolved into the performance. The direction of actors has existed since the very birth of Theatre. Nevertheless, the development of their work and their figure have experienced different progressions, always linked to the development of the stage director which they are part of, and to the development of the interpretation, which they are intimately related to. In truth, Theatre has never been just drama and actors. However, historically, the lack of definition of the figure of the director of actors and their indebtedness to the acting technique, have limited their specific development and constituted them as a social unknown...
