Abstract
Fake news is a concept whose documented existence dates back to Greco-Latin culture. Throughout history, empires, kingdoms and nation-states have transmitted news or stories that are difficult to prove or outright false. The First World War was the first planetary war that gave rise to a parallel war of disinformation, hoaxes and incomplete news. The historical analysis of this misleading news and the censorship of the countries participating in this conflict developed by academic researchers neglects this period of extraordinary emergence and dissemination of false news published in the media. This paper attempts to give this sad recent period in the historical account of fake news the relevance it deserves
