Abstract
La presente investigación se centra en el estudio y análisis de las dos variables fundamentales que dan título a la presente tesis doctoral: “LA GACETA (2009-2013): ANÁLISIS DE UNA EMPRESA INFORMATIVA EN EL PERIODO DE TRANSICIÓN ENTRE ZAPATERO Y RAJOY”. Así pues, por un lado, se concentra en el estudio del diario La Gaceta -antes, La Gaceta de los Negocios-, adquirido por el Grupo Intereconomía en el año 2009 y que regresó a los quioscos como periódico generalista en octubre de ese mismo año; y, por otro, en el análisis pormenorizado de las circunstancias políticas, económicas y sociales que condicionaron, justificaron y motivaron el (re)nacimiento del diario y su cierre, tras cuatro años de actividad periodística durante una de las etapas más convulsas de la reciente historia de España, aquella que discurre entre parte de la segunda legislatura del presidente Rodríguez Zapatero y el arranque de la primera gobernada ya por el presidente Mariano Rajoy...
This case study examines the relaunching and ultimate failure of a periodical known as La Gaceta (The Gazette) during the tumultuous four year period between the second term of President Rodriguez Zapatero and the start of President Mariano Rajoy’s term in office. The research focuses on the factors that prompted an enterprise called Grupo Intereconomía to invest, in 2009, in the acquisition and re-branding of a specialized business journal, known as La Gaceta de los Negocios (or The Business Gazette) for publication as a more generic newspaper that aimed to protect and maintain a voice of conservative humanism in the face of the political and social changes being promulgated by the Socialist president, Rajoy.
