Abstract
This paper analyzes the impact that the TV program Operación Triunfo (2002) has in the Spanish music industry. The increase in the speed of production, reduced prizes, access to new consumers, and the creation of new idols were strategies that had a deep impact in the music industry which was confronting the first steps of a profound crisis of revenues and prestige.
