Abstract
La homofobia se define como el odio, temor y rechazo a los homosexuales desde el resto de la población, tanto por parte de hombres y mujeres heterosexuales, como de los propios homosexuales, a lo que se conoce como homofobia interiorizada. En la sociedad occidental, cuyos patrones culturales han sido heredados en Hispanoamérica, el patriarcado se sirve de la homofobia como un instrumento de dominación para perennizarse en el tiempo. La homofobia es inculcada en los niños pequeños desde el hogar, en la escuela, y básicamente se reduce a negar lo femenino en el varón; en otras palabras, considera lo femenino como algo débil o inferior, inadmisible en el hombre, que debe adherirse con su comportamiento a la masculinidad. El ideal masculino en occidente constituye algo supremamente difícil de alcanzar a cabalidad, lo que causa frustración en el hombre; la sociedad occidental exige una constante demostración de virilidad...
Homophobia is defined as the hate, fear and rejection towards homosexuals by therest of the population, both by heterosexual men and women, and by homosexuals themselves, which is known as internalized homophobia. In western society, patriarchy uses homophobia as an instrument of domination to perpetuate itself in power over time. Homophobia is taught to young children at home, at school, and it aims down to denying the feminine part in the male person; in other words, the feminine is considered as something weak or inferior, worthless and inadmissible in a man, who must always adhere to masculinity with his behavior. The masculine ideal in the West is something extremely difficult to fully achieve, which causes a deep frustration in men; western society demands a constant demonstration of virility...
