Abstract
The first third of the 20th century in Spain was marked by the political contrast. Starting with the so-called “1898’s disaster”, the majority of this period was characterized by the transfer of power between conservatives and liberals, who showed, amongst other things, an exchange of educational policies, letting show the conception of the Spanish historical memory and national identity they wanted to introduce in the society. This is what happened until the arrival of Primo de Rivera, in 1923, whose intentions of increasing the literacy rate frustrated him in power.
