Abstract

Besides, translatological analysis can focus on various general aspects, in order to extract patterns or generalisations, or on specific solutions, to assess their adequacy. In this paper, Amparo Hurtado Albir’s translation techniques are used as a guide to conduct a critical analysis of Richard Gross’ translation of Petra Hartlieb’s novel "Ein Winter in Wien". It focuses on the translation of phraseological units, proper names and grammatical structures with "lassen". In addition, unjustified translations are analysed to determine their seriousness and their impact on the target text. This makes it possible to assess the overall quality of the translation and the mechanisms used to achieve this result.
