Abstract
Partiendo de dos relatos muy alejados en el tiempo como son la película La muerte de vacaciones (Dealh Takes a Ho/iday, 1934) de Mitchell Leisen y de ¿Conoces a Joe BJack? (Meet Joe Black, 1998) de Martin Brest, el autor plantea esta intervención como una reflexión sobre el peculiar enfoque de la narración hollywoodiense más tradicional pues se describe un relato en el que la imagen de la muerte, la vieja parca, deja de tener ese matiz peyorativo y es representada en cada film por uno de los galanes de la época, resultando ser el héroe de la historia.
Based on two stories from very different eras, the films Death Takes a Holyday, 1934, directed by Mitchell Leisen and Meet Jo& Black, directed by Martin Brest in 1998. In this the author contrasts in his contribution, the usual approach of Hollywood's traditional narration, with a story which describes the image of death, the Grim Reaper, without any negative connotations. The characters are evenly representad in each film by one of the leading men of lhe time, who is also like hero of the story.
