En el contexto de la fotografía artística contemporánea, uno de los sistemas de montaje y exhibición más relevantes de los
últimos años ha sido el denominado face-mounting. Este tipo de montaje, con gran presencia en las más relevantes colecciones
a nivel internacional, plantea importantes problemas de conservación, muchos de ellos asociados a una incorrecta manipulación en el ámbito de la galería y el museo.
Se hace necesario, por tanto, establecer unos parámetros de conservación adaptados, realistas y asumibles para el conservador- restaurador, que le permitan manipular este tipo de obras, reduciendo los riesgos a los que se exponen este tipo de montajes fotográficos durante su manipulación. Este trabajo, situado en el contexto de una amplia investigación que se
viene realizando sobre la conservación de este tipo de montajes, analiza los diferentes tipos de deterioros que sufren estas obras, sus causas, y establece medidas apropiadas en el ámbito de la conservación preventiva.
In the context of contemporary art photography, one of the most relevant mounting and exhibition systems in recent years has been the so-called face-mounting. This type of mounting, with great presence in the most relevant collections at international level, raises important conservation problems, many of them associated with incorrect handling in the field of the gallery and the museum. Therefore, it becomes necessary to establish an adapted, easily accessible, and realistic protocol for the conservator-restorer, that allows him to manipulate this type of works, reducing the risks produced in the handling this type of photographic mounting. This paper, located in the context of extensive research that has been carried out on the conservation of this type of mountings, analyses the different types of deteriorations suffered by these works, their causes, and establishes appropriate measures in the field of preventive conservation.
