Fish were acclimated to seawater (38 ppt, SW) or freshwater (<1 ppt, FW) at 18.5 °C before being transferred to the opposite salinity, and CTmax together with physiological responses were assessed on days 0, 1, 3, 6, and 13 post-transfer. CTmax remained consistently lower in FW than in SW regardless of prior acclimation. Relative to acclimation controls, CTmax exposure decreased plasma ion concentrations in FW-transferred fish but increased them in SW-transferred fish, while elevating plasma cortisol, glucose, lactate, and hematocrit in both salinities. Model selection using the second-order Akaike Information Criterion (AICc) identified the interaction between salinity and acclimation time as the strongest predictor of CTmax. Multivariate analyses further indicated that the physiological mechanisms underlying thermal tolerance differed between environments. In FW, CTmax progressively declined over time, reflecting a trade-off between maintaining ionic homeostasis through energetically costly residual (ouabain-insensitive) ATPase activity and a distinct stress-induced erythropoietic response. In contrast, thermal performance improved over time in SW and was closely associated with osmolality, glucose, and cortisol, whereas lactate accumulation represented a common response across both salinities. Overall, these findings demonstrate that ion-poor freshwater environments impose a persistent thermal penalty, suggesting that the combined effects of low salinity and increasing temperatures may heighten the climate vulnerability of estuarine fish populations beyond current ecological predictions.Item type: Item , Encuesta de percepción de la ciencia para estudiantes de secundaria(2025) Ihammanen, Anissa; Ezquerra Martínez, Ángel; Campillos Ladero, Rafael; Fernández-Fuertes, José María; Martínez Chicharro, MaríaEste conjunto de datos recoge las respuestas de 152 estudiantes de educación secundaria (64 en España y 88 en Marruecos) a un cuestionario sobre percepción social de la ciencia y la tecnología, adaptado de los estudios de percepción social de la ciencia de FECYT. El instrumento, administrado en español (con apoyo en árabe para la muestra marroquí) mediante un formulario en línea, recoge datos sociodemográficos, intereses e información autopercibida sobre distintos ámbitos temáticos, hábitos de consumo cultural y mediático, opiniones y actitudes hacia la ciencia y la tecnología, y un test de 31 ítems dicotómicos sobre concepciones científicas básicas (astronomía, biología, física, química y geología). A partir de las respuestas brutas se han construido escalas compuestas de interés, información, conocimiento, opinión y actitudes hacia la ciencia, con sus correspondientes versiones recodificadas en sentido inverso, agrupadas por país. Here we demonstrate the first realistic implementations of a perfectly-secure quantum homomorphic encryption (QHE) scheme applied to quantum neural networks (QNN). Using efficient Clifford+T decomposition, we implement quantum convolutional neural networks for two complementary scenarios: (i) reverse delegated training, where encrypted data from multiple providers trains a user’s network via federated aggregation; (ii) private inference, where users process encrypted data with remote quantum networks. Moreover, analysis of server circuit privacy reveals probabilistic model protection through Pauli gate concealment. These results establish perfectly-secure QHE as a practical framework for multi-party quantum machine learning.Item type: Item , SQUWALS: a Szegedy QUantum WALks Simulator(2024) Ortega, Sergio A.; Martín-Delgado Alcántara, Miguel ÁngelSzegedy's quantum walk is an algorithm for quantizing a general Markov chain. It has plenty of applications such as many variants of optimizations. In order to check its properties in an error-free environment, it is important to have a classical simulator. However, the current simulation algorithms require a great deal of memory due to the particular formulation of this quantum walk. In this paper we propose a memory-saving algorithm that scales as (N2) with the size N of the graph. We provide additional procedures for simulating Szegedy's quantum walk over mixed states and also the Semiclassical Szegedy walk. With these techniques we have built a classical simulator in Python called SQUWALS. We show that our simulator scales as (N2) in both time and memory resources. Nowadays, due to environmental regulations, the use of water-based coatings has become essential compared to solvent-based ones. However, their application to magnesium alloys remains largely unexplored due to their high reactivity with water. In the present work, a phosphate-functionalized waterborne binder is applied to AZ31B magnesium alloy. The surface has been modified by four different pre-treatments, respectively: (i) mechanical grinding, (ii) pickling, (iii) conventional conversion treatment, and (iv) a novel conversion treatment based on layered double hydroxides (LDH). The most promising pre-treatments are selected to explore their synergy with a biobased waterborne binder, containing CeO2 nanoparticles as a corrosion inhibitor. The morphology and composition of the different systems are studied, prior to and after corrosion tests in NaCl solution, by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Results obtained by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in NaCl solution have revealed not only that LDH performs better than the conventional conversion treatment but also the synergy between LDH pre-treatment and CeO2 nanoparticles when two organic layers are used.Item type: Item , Effects of play-based interventions in Physical Education on emotional intelligence, self-concept, and assertiveness: an umbrella review(2026) Mínguez Rayo, Fernando; Navarro Asencio, EnriqueWhat are the effects of play-based interventions on emotional intelligence, self-concept and assertiveness in children and adolescents according to existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses in Physical Education? Play is one of the most relevant pedagogical resources in Physical Education due to its ability to promote the integral development of students. In addition to the physical and motor benefits, it facilitates social interaction, emotional experience and the creation of meaningful learning environments that contribute to socio-emotional development. Research indicates that playful activities support intrinsic motivation, creativity, and self-exploration, while promoting peer-to-peer communication and conflict resolution. In this context, emotional intelligence is configured as a fundamental competence, as it allows students to recognize, understand and regulate their emotions in situations of success and failure that are common in the game. In the same way, self-concept is a key element in the construction of the student's personal identity and can be strengthened through cooperative and participatory activities typical of play-based methodologies. Likewise, assertiveness is closely linked to the processes of social interaction that occur during playful dynamics. In recent years, various methodologies active in Physical Education have incorporated play as the axis of the teaching-learning process. These include Game-Based Learning, Teaching Games for Understanding, Sport Educational Model, Gamification and Cooperative Games. These proposals seek to generate meaningful learning experiences that integrate motor development with social and emotional development. However, although there are systematic reviews and meta-analyses on these methodologies, the available evidence is scattered. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) combining inexpensive transition metals and organic ligands are promising candidates for high-capacity cathodes. Iron-chloranilate-water frameworks are herein reported to be produced in aqueous media under mild conditions. Removal of reticular water from known [Fe2(CAN)3(H2O)4] ⋅ 4H2O yields a new supramolecular metal–organic framework (SMOF), [Fe2(CAN)3(H2O)4]. Removing coordination water, a new 2D honeycomb-like MOF forms, Fe2(CAN)3, stable without counterions and solvent. This MOF adopts the unusual ABC layer-stacking, as determined using a combination of ab initio random structure searching, electron diffraction, and Rietveld refinement of powder XRD data. Magnetometry, Mossbauer and Raman spectroscopy confirm that all three [Fe2(CAN)3(H2O)x]⋅yH2O phases contain HS-Fe3+ and CAN2−, with magnetic ordering temperatures increasing (5→20 K) as the Fe−CAN connectivity increases. The SMOF and MOF show reversible (de)insertion of >4Li+/f.u. at average 2,59 V and 2,76 V vs Li+/Li, respectively. [Fe2(CAN)3] achieves 146 mAh/g at 1 C, thus specific energy (563 Wh/kg) and power (446 W/kg) in Li half-cells competitive with conventional LiFePO4 (~580 Wh/kg and ~450 W/kg). El estudio se divide en cuatro apartados. In goldfish, FAA has been shown to reflect an anxiety-like state associated with food expectation, which is not solely driven by circadian timing or passive metabolic signals related to prolonged fasting. This anxiogenic component is induced by ghrelin and reversed by ghrelin antagonism. Although ghrelin is known to regulate FAA and to engage dopaminergic reward circuits in mammals, the integration of ghrelin, dopamine, and anxiety within the context of FAA has not been established. Here, we investigated whether dopamine mediates ghrelin-induced anxiety during FAA in goldfish (Carassius auratus) using complementary behavioural, neurochemical, and transcriptional approaches. Pharmacological blockade of dopamine receptors during FAA revealed a prominent role of D2-like receptors in anxiety responses, although D1-like receptors are also involved. Consistently, ghrelin-induced anxiety-like behaviour was selectively reversed by D2 antagonism. Moreover, these D2-receptors were abundant in telencephalic regions associated with motivational processing. Furthermore, ghrelin increased dopamine and DOPAC levels in the telencephalic accumbens-like region and induced c-fos, tyrosine hydroxylase, and ghrelin receptors expression in the posterior tuberculum region, a key dopaminergic nucleus in teleost equivalent to the ventral tegmental area (VTA). Together, these results demonstrate that ghrelin recruits a dopaminergic pathway to modulate anticipatory anxiety during FAA in goldfish, with a predominant role of D2-like receptors.
