Abstract

The chapter presents a technical study and the conservation–restoration process of a set of didactic paintings produced by Santiago Ramón y Cajal and Ramón Padró y Pedret, preserved at the Complutense University of Madrid, underscoring their historical, scientific, and heritage value. Conceived within the context of late nineteenth-century university medical education, these works are interpreted as a singular testimony to the convergence of art, science, and teaching, and as a milestone in the visualization of knowledge; their recovery makes it possible to restore both their material integrity and the original scientific reading required to understand rigorously Cajal’s contributions to neuroscience.
